Bovasso! Bovasso! Bovasso!

BOVASSO! BOVASSO! BOVASSO!
new work ( and some not so new )
by Nina Bovasso

July 1- August 15, 2011
Ada Gallery
228 West Broad Street
Richmond, Va. 23220

Bovasso's acrylic and ink drawings feature densely constructed, intricately woven abstraction, rich in color and finely executed lines.

Now sprouting legs and feet appropriated from the human form, Disney and Breughel, these anthropomorphized, architectural shapes are transformed into a hybrid of humanness and mobile apparatuses. In this new work, Bovasso's quasi-cartoon, graphic style connects the handmade with the hand-held world of information overload. Through her vibrant images, Bovasso shows the power of the human hand and imagination, while playfully acknowledging the impact of the bit-stream world on our identities.

Bovasso's work can be found in the collections of: Collectie KPN, Netherlands; The New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York, NY; The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY; JP Morgan/ Chase Bank, New York, NY; MoMA, New York, NY; Deutsche Bank, NY/DE; among others. Her work has also been reviewed in Art Forum, The New York Times, Art in America, and TImeOut NY
