NYASHA CHIGAMA is a contemporary ceramic artist. Drawing on her time living in the rural Zimbabwean town of Goromonzi, she investigates coping mechanisms present in underprivileged environments. Chigama holds an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and a BFA from the Chinhoyi University of Technology in Zimbabwe. She has collaborated with the College for Creative Studies in Detroit and participated in several annual exhibitions at Gallery Delta in Harare, Post Studios Arts Collective in South Africa, and ADA Gallery in Richmond, Virginia.She has received the Black History in the Making award and a graduate thesis research grant from VCU. She grew up in Harare, Zimbabwe, and now lives and works in Richmond, Virginia.
