JARED CLARK: FIERY FURNACES

Hi Bloggers--long time no speak! We wanted to share the work of ceramic artist Jared Clark, which is part of our current exhibit 'Fiery Furnaces,' up now at the gallery. Come by and see, or check out our site here . JARED CLARK (b. Provo, Utah) lives and works in Salt Lake City. He earned his BFA in painting, drawing and printmaking from BYU and his MFA in Painting and Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University. While at VCU, Clark was awarded the Dedalus Foundation Fellowship and a Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Fellowship. He has had residencies Art Omi, Vermont Studio Center, and Kompact Living Space in Berlin. Clark has been represented by ADA Gallery of Richmond VA since 2006. He has shown nationally in many art fairs and other galleries and a couple of museums including a solo show at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art.

SASHA WATERS FREYER AFRAID OF EVERYTHING exhibition dates : October 7 - 29, 2016 ada gallery is pleased to present four films by Sasha Waters Freyer, on view October 7 -- October 29. Freyer is a moving image artist trained in the photography and documentary tradition, fusing original and found footage in 16mm and digital media. Freyer's works ask the question of how to be an artist and a parent; to make and to nurture; to revolt and sustain; the certainty of death; the project of reconciling the irreconcilable. For more than a decade, her work has revolved around what happens -- psychologically, spiritually, and emotionally -- when one becomes a parent, guided around her own maternal ambivalence. Her work conveys a desperation to evoke meaning from motherhood, the battle between autonomy and subjugation, selfishness and sacrifice. Since the becoming a parent 12 years ago, she has mined the tension between the subjective and lived experience of mothers--so...

RYAN BROWNING: FIERY FURNACES

Hi Bloggers--long time no speak! We wanted to share the work of ceramic artist Ryan Browning, which is part of our current exhibit 'Fiery Furnaces,' up now at the gallery. Come by and see, or check out our site here . RYAN BROWNING (born 1981, Houston, Texas) lives in Doha, Qatar. His paintings have a way of simplifying imagery to a cartoonish state without losing the specificity of the objects he is portraying. Often his imaginary spaces are rendered without figures, but hint at their presence, as if they have just walked out of frame. His work has been written about in The New York Times, ARTnews, ArtMaze Magazine, Art F City, and others. He has exhibited at ADA Gallery (Richmond, VA), Mother Gallery (Beacon, NY), Resort Baltimore (Baltimore, MD), Mulherin Pollard (NYC), Allegra LaViola (NYC), VOLTA NY (NYC), The Fire Station Museum (Doha, Qatar), Menage Gallery (St. Petersburg, RU), and others.
